What is this “TotalRecords” property of Article Object is good for?

Hello there;

Well, I am trying to fallow  this project’s pattern to develop my own DNN modules but I cannot really figure out what this “TotalRecords” in Article object is good for.

looking  to SQL server stored procedures, I estimated it always produce the same data for each row, that is the number of data rows exists in the select query if you ignore paging(or at least I couldn’t find and example otherwise) .

But why this counting process should be executed many times while it can happen only once?

I know probably I am wrong somewhere, but I am trying to learn something here

Thank you very much.

TotalRecords is being used for the Paging on the ArticleListing. It might not be the most efficient method, but it was what I implemented to quickly get paging included.

If folks want to submit code for other ways to do paging, I'm open to doing something different in the module.
